The best natural ingredients for acne-prone skin

Acne treatments have seen a surge in popularity in recent years, with every one promising to clear acne with a new wonder ingredient. In the US there are more than 50 million acne-suffers and globally, it’s predicted that the acne treatment market will grow to over 7 billion dollars by 2025.

However with advice from the FDA warning consumers of the potential adverse effects of these treatments, they may not always be the safest or most effective solution. The most popular anti-acne treatment use peroxides as the main drug ingredient. The most common adverse reactions to peroxides are burning, scarring and drying of the skin. Other drugs cause allergic reactions and exacerbate the acne-associated inflammation.

When it comes to treating acne, natural remedies can be more effective, especially when the right combination of natural  ingredients is used.  With this in mind, we’ve developed ACNEcycle natural serums, which incorporate anti-bacterial tea tree oil in a proprietary combination of botanical oils and skin-essential vitamins, which act synergistically to kill bacteria, promote rapid healing and rejuvenate damaged skin.  Some of the important natural ingredients in ACNEcycle include:

  1. Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is one of the most common natural ingredients for treating acne and rightly so. Tea tree oil has been scientifically proven to be a highly potent oil that kills both bacteria and fungi.  It is also has excellent anti-inflammatory activity for reducing redness associated with infections in the skin. When the oil is properly extracted from the plants, these natural healing properties are retained.  Tea tree oil used in ACNEcycle products are of the highest quality, pureness and potency.

  2. Aloe  vera

The aloe vera oil contains natural plant components auxin and gibberellins which are excellent for soothing redness and helping the wound-healing process.   Additionally,  antioxidants in aloe vera helps protect against oxidation reactions harmful to the healing process.  Our acne serums, ACNEcycle, contain aloe vera as one of its main ingredients!

  3. Olive oil

Olive oil has many skin and health benefits. Studies show that omega 3 fatty acids in extra-virgin olive oil can protect from oxidative stress.  Olive oil has been used on the skin since Cleopatra’s times and modern research has proved that applying olive oil to the skin can prevent signs of photo-aging and sun damage.   Olive oil contains antioxidants that fight free-radical damage and an ingredient called squalene, which is extremely hydrating.  Olive oil also has important vitamins, including A, D, and K, as well as vitamin E that help promote more rapid proliferation of skin cells important for repairing damaged skin.

  4. Vitamin D

In the last few years, researchers have been able to establish a firmer link between vitamin D levels and acne. One cause of acne is a hormonal imbalance and with over 41 percent of the US population vitamin D deficient, it’s thought that a vitamin D deficiency may be partly responsible for causing hormonal imbalances, resulting in and prolonging acne symptoms.

It is widely recognized that many people are vitamin D deficient and therefore may not be able to repair damaged skin as rapidly as possible.  We’ve infused vitamin D3 in ACNEcycle to promote rapid restoration of acne-damaged skin.

  5. Evening Primrose oil

The evening primrose is a yellow flower that has many healing benefits due to its high gamma-linoleic acid (GLA) content, which contains healthy omega-6 fatty acid and potent anti-inflammatory properties. It’s thought that primrose oil supplements and topical products work by bringing your body’s fatty acid ratio into balance, while also creating another ingredient called dihomo-gamma-linolenic acid (DGLA). When DGLA levels in your body increase, research shows that inflammation in your body goes down – thus making primrose oil an excellent natural anti-inflammatory, which is why it goes into ACNEcycle Arrest for treating active outbreak and Defend for prophylactic treatment to prevent new outbreaks.

After reading this article, we hope you’ll be encouraged to try out some of these natural treatments. Our acne treatments, ACNEcycle Arrest and Defend, contains only 100% natural ingredients and is enriched with many of the ingredients mentioned above, including: tea tree oil, primrose oil, aloe vera and vitamin D3.
